What should I do if I think my child needs therapy?
If your child is exhibiting symptoms and struggling with difficulties you are unsure which therapy your child needs, give our office a call and we can help guide you.
If you sense that your child may need occupational therapy, the next step is to schedule an evaluation for your child. The evaluation is a two step process that includes a parent consultation and a hands on evaluation with the child. If the outcome of the evaluation shows that therapy is necessary, at the end of the evaluation a treatment plan will be established and discussed with you for your child.
What is the process and cost for an Occupational Therapy evaluation for my child?
The evaluation is a two step process. The first step is a parent consultation in which a comprehensive history of the child is taken and current concerns and areas of function/difficulty are discussed. The second step of the evaluation process is the hands-on evaluation that takes place with your child and various areas of development are assessed including sensory, motor and emotional based development. The occupational therapy evaluation takes place with Mrs. Estee Saks, MS, OTR/L, LMHC.
The total cost of the evaluation is $395 (consult $195+ hands on evaluation $200). The cost of the evaluation is subject to change. Evaluation pricing does not include a written evaluation report.

What is the process if I think myself or my child may need emotional wellness services?
Our office will send a screening questionnaire for you to fill out and send back. The screening questionnaire will then be sent back to be looked at by Mrs. Bracha Daum, LCSW. Based on what Mrs. Daum determines, either of two things will happen. Mrs. Daum may recommend that you come in for parenting sessions or she may recommend the child receive direct emotional wellness or occupational therapy. There are times where Mrs. Daum may recommend that a mix of both parenting sessions and child sessions take place. If emotional wellness therapy is recommended, your child will be paired up to be seen by one of our social workers. If occupational therapy is recommended, you will begin the process by setting up an occupational therapy evaluation.
What can I expect from parenting sessions?
The parenting sessions will educate and allow for parents to understand their children’s emotional needs and learn how to interpret their language. Concrete techniques and tools are provided to help parents create an environment in which their child can succeed and thrive. Implementation of the tools work to decrease attention seeking and power struggle behaviors and lead to a calmer and happier home.
The parenting sessions typically begin by taking place on a weekly basis and partially through the process are decreased to once every other week.
